Valid questions.
As I publish the posts of this blog in record time (yes, I’m being overly optimistic), you will definitely find out more about our story. For now, I am a solo mum of two young-ish kids with an eye for all things beautiful and a hungry mind that never stops. Moving to Edinburgh last month has already impacted our entire lifestyle! We were used to the life of a little country pumpkin, mostly spent indoors, because my health was never great for walking a ton, and because we’ve been in utter survival mode. Edinburgh has already changed all that. The old, sociable, adventurous ‘me’ is already begging to be let out! Needless to say, being out and about is such a tonic that I have realised why I have been such a homebody (people trauma aside). Growing up in isolated communities and under a lot of challenges, I have never realised how BAD my mobility actually is and have been cutting corners of my life to cope. BUT… I am realising that we deserve to live full lives, regardless of our background or communities. So, I got a mobility scooter and am looking into wheelchairs and lo and behold… our lives are getting larger and fuller. For the first time in decades.
Trauma shrinks your life so drastically, it’s difficult to acknowledge that you are, in fact, a human with the right to freedom, needs and a full life.
me 🙂
I’ve started this blog to reflect on the experience of rebuilding after trauma and loss and hopefully be a soft place to land if you’re finding yourself in a similar place! As an added bonus, you’ll come along to our little adventures and get to know Edinburgh a little, even if you’re not able to visit.
Escapism through fantasy keeps us going and gives us a healthy outlet for very difficult and stressful situations. This blog is just that – a means to re-envision life, inspire hope and have fun and laughs along the way.
